Personal Assistants work under the direction of the client Care Manager and Staffing Coordinator and are responsible for understanding and implementing the client’s Care Plan.
Personal Assistant minimum eligibility requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years of age;
- Have excellent communication and language skills that enable them to perform their duties and interact effectively with clients and other HomeWell staff;
- Have 1,000 hours of in-home/long-term care with geriatric or chronically ill persons (exceptions to this are for recently licensed CNAs or persons who will only be providing companionship and housekeeping services). This translates to approximately 6 months of full-time work, or 12 months at 20 hours per week;
- Verifiable work and/or professional references,
- Pass a criminal background check
- Have valid Driver’s License or Identification
- Are mature, caring, punctual, and reliable
Personal Assistant must be able to perform essential functions:
- Assist clients according to their service plan, which may include: companionship, meal preparation and service, light housekeeping, transportation, shopping, medication reminders and assistance, bathing, body care, dressing, feeding, ambulation, positioning, transferring, toileting and protective supervision;
- Understanding a client’s service plan and adequately implementing it;
- Notifying the Care Manager of client concerns, changes in care or client condition and client emergencies;
- Notifying the Care Manager and/or Staffing Coordinator of any safety concerns;
- Following company Infection Control practices and notifying the office if in need of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) or supplies;
- Accurately and completely filling out the client time/task sheet and submitting it to the office by the date specified in the Employee Handbook and Pay Period Schedule and alerting office when timesheet supply at client residence is low;
- Conforming to the company dress code, as specified in the Employee Handbook;
- Reporting to work on-time;
- Completing ongoing training as required by regulation, client care needs and/or changes in company policies and procedures;
- Adhering to all company policies and procedures as detailed in the Employee Handbook; and Report to Care Manager and Staffing Coordinator.
